16 Intrepid Wobblies including the delightful Mrs M assembled at Ringwood car park for the inaugural night ride, lighting systems at the ready. Luckily the temperature was surprisingly mild for late February and there had been little rain that week.

We left Ringwood heading north along Gravel Lane joining the cycleway alongside the A338 at Wells Garage passing The Windmill petrol station. Opposite the New Forest Farm Machinery show rooms we turned right onto the darkness along the unlit Snails Lane, the first 200m or so in tarmac which then changes to a pot-holed gravel track.

The Wobblies gathered again at the end of Snails Lane at its junction with Gorley Road. Crossing Gorley Road we headed up the hill to Rockford Farm then continued straight on up the gravel track to Highwood. At the cattle grid we stopped for our first floodlit puncture repair.

Puncture fixed we crossed Highwood then downhill onto the Linford Road climbing up to Great Linford Enclosure and the designated forest cycle route crossing Greenford Bottom. Mr Rendell had a puncture at the entrance to Roe Enclosure followed by a climb up through Roe and across Kings Garden passing the 104m trig point heading toward Slufters Enclosure.

A fast downhill through Slufters to the junction with the Boldrewood Road. Turning left onto tarmac we headed back toward Ringwood passing the Red Shoot and Alice Lyle public houses then turn right onto Ivy Lane. At the end of Ivy Lane turn left onto the A338 cycle way returning to Ringwood and a welcome bevvy or 5 and de-brief at Ringwood Brewerys finest Inn on the Furlong.
